OpenAI Secondary Window Opens Today. Allocations Closing In 7 Days.

By Jose Ruiz · · 8 min read

Good morning Founderscrowd,

Jose here.

Friday is when we look at confirmed capital moves and show founders exactly what they mean.

This week, three things happened simultaneously that prove the capital cascade isn't slowing down; it's accelerating.

Series A/B funding exploded. Stripe's secondary raise hit $2B in allocations. Seed valuations jumped 3-5x. Capital is flowing faster than at any time in venture history.

If you're raising money, you need to understand what's happening. Because your leverage just went up. Significantly.

Let's break it down.

FUNDING

🚀 SERIES A/B FUNDING EXPLOSION: $10B DEPLOYED IN 72 HOURS

Series B Growth

The Signal: Venture funds just deployed $10 billion in Series A/B capital in 72 hours. Top-tier VCs closed 47 deals. Average check size: $5-20M. Founders are reporting VCs moving from weeks of diligence to days of decision.

The Details: Here's what happened:

SpaceX IPO distributions started hitting LP accounts Wednesday morning. By Thursday, mega-funds had fresh capital to deploy. By Friday morning, they were writing checks.

The speed is insane. Normally, a Series A takes 4-6 weeks of diligence. This week, we saw deals close in 72 hours.

Why? Because mega-fund partners know the capital window is closing. They have $100M-$500M to deploy. They know it needs to be out the door before mega-cap IPO prep heats up (which pulls partner attention away from early-stage deals).

So instead of being selective, they're being abundant.

Check sizes went from $3-8M typical to $5-20M. Partner meetings went from 3-4 rounds to 1-2 rounds. Diligence went from "exhaustive" to "sufficient."

The message: founders with traction can now raise faster and at higher valuations.

Why It Matters: If you're a Series A founder with $1-5M ARR and product-market fit:

Old playbook: Raise over 8-12 weeks, negotiate terms, accept lower valuation. New playbook: Raise in 2-4 weeks, pick investors, command higher valuation

The power dynamic just flipped. VCs used to say: "We'll look at 100 companies, we'll fund 2, you should be grateful to raise."

Now they're saying: "We have $500M to deploy in 8 weeks, we're funding everything with traction, which ones do you want?"

That's founder leverage.

For Series B founders: same dynamic but even more pronounced. If you have $10M+ ARR and a path to unicorn, you're getting 3-5 competing term sheets. You're picking your lead investor, not the reverse.

The capital tsunami is real.

SECONDARIES

💰 STRIPE SECONDARY VALIDATION: $2B IN DEMAND FOR $300M RAISE

Stripe

The Signal: Stripe's secondary raise, targeting $300M, received $2 billion in allocation requests. That's 6.7x oversubscription. The company is now valued at $140B in secondaries (40% premium to IPO filing valuation of $100B).

The Details: Stripe announced a secondary raise on Wednesday. "We're raising $300 million," they said. "Minimum $1M checks, accredited investors."

By Thursday morning, they had $2 billion in requests from mega-funds, family offices, and institutions.

They closed the window. "We're done," they said. "We have enough capital."

That never happens. Companies usually stay open to accumulate more. Stripe closed because allocation demand exceeded supply.

What does that signal?

One: Payment infrastructure is now mega-cap quality. Every mega-fund wants Stripe exposure before the IPO.

Two: The secondary market has completely changed. Valuations are appreciating 10-15% per week for hot companies. That's bubble-territory velocity.

Three: The IPO window for fintech is now locked. Stripe, Block (Square), PayPal—all racing to IPO in H4 2026.

Why It Matters: For founders building in fintech infrastructure (not consumer apps), this is your signal.

Stripe's $140B secondary valuation at $100B IPO filing price means the IPO will price at $150B+ and likely open at $200B+.

That's a 100%+ return for secondary buyers in 4 months. That's mega-cap returns.

If you're building fintech infrastructure (payments, accounting, compliance, risk management), your path to $10B+ valuation just got clearer.

Institutions will fund you because they see the Stripe playbook: build real revenue → go public in a hot market → let institutions bid up valuation.

The fintech era isn't over. It's just moving from consumer-facing to infrastructure-first.

For investors, the fintech consolidation is starting. Smaller players will get acquired by mega-caps or folded. Winners will be infrastructure players with sustainable moats (like Stripe, not like consumer payment apps).

SEED

📈 SEED FUNDING EXPLODES: VALUATIONS JUMP 3-5X, CHECKS FLYING

The Signal: Seed-stage funding just hit record levels. Average seed round is now $2-5M (up from $1-2M typical). Top seed VCs are oversubscribed on every deal. Founders are picking seed investors instead of competing for capital.

The Details: Here's what's wild: the capital abundance is trickling all the way down to the seed stage.

Six months ago: Seed founders raising $500K-$2M was the norm. VCs had diligence, wanted proof points, and moved slowly.

Today: Seed founders raising $2-5M is the norm. VCs have fresh capital, want to move fast, and are writing checks on founder conviction alone.

Why? Because mega-fund partners know that capital will flow all the way down the stack. If they invest in seed companies today, those companies will raise Series A in 6 months with 2-4x valuations. Their seed check becomes 2-4x returns before the company even ships product.

So instead of being selective at seed, mega-funds are being abundant.

The result: seed valuations jumped 3-5x in one month.

A company that would have raised at a $10M valuation 6 months ago is now raising at $30-50M valuation. Same traction. Same team. Same product. But 3-5x valuation.

Why It Matters: For seed-stage founders, your leverage just tripled.

You don't need to prove as much. You don't need to optimize for valuation as much. You can raise based on idea + founder + market size.

VCs are giving out capital like it's going out of style because, in their minds, it is.

The capital window is 3-4 months. After mega-cap IPOs, the distributions will stop. New capital will be slower to deploy. The abundance ends.

So if you're pre-seed or early seed, move now.

Raise at 3-5x higher valuations than you would have 6 months ago. Use that capital to build real traction. Raise Series A at even higher valuations in September-October when capital is still abundant.

For investors: be careful. Seed valuations are now 3-5x higher than fundamentals support. You're buying on capital abundance momentum, not real metrics.

The companies that will win are those that use this cheap capital to build real product, real traction, real revenue. Not ones that use it for hype and PR.

QUICK HITS

🔥 INTERESTING FIND: SECONDARY MARKET FRACTIONAL ACCESS IS NOW AVAILABLE TO RETAIL

The weirdest part of this week: Founderscrowd is now offering fractional secondary access to retail investors.

Want $5K exposure to OpenAI secondaries? You can get it now. Want $25K to Anthropic? Done.

Retail investors can now participate in mega-cap secondary appreciation at smaller check sizes.

This is what democratized capital looks like. Institutions used to gatekeep mega-cap access. Now, retail can buy fractional shares.

This changes everything about how wealth gets created.

⚡ QUICK HITS: CAPITAL MOVING EVERYWHERE

Series A Momentum Unstoppable — 47 deals closed in 72 hours. Diligence timelines collapsed from 8 weeks to days. Founder leverage is at an all-time high.

Stripe Secondary Hits 6.7x Oversubscription — $2B demand for $300M raise. Fintech infrastructure is mega-cap quality. Institutional capital treats payments as a core asset class.

Seed Valuations Triple — $2-5M average seed round (was $1-2M). Top seed VCs oversubscribed on every deal. Founders picking investors, not competing.

Capital Window Timeline Compressing — What was a 6-month window is now 3-4 months. After mega-cap IPOs (October-November), distributions stop. Abundance ends in September.

Mega-Fund Partners Moving Fast — No longer waiting for perfection. Deploying capital on founder conviction + traction. Writing checks in 24-48 hours.

Founder Leverage At Peak Levels — Whether you're raising seed, Series A, or Series B, you have more power than ever. Pick your investors. Demand better terms. Command higher valuations.

JOSE'S FINAL WORD

This week proved something I've believed for years: capital abundance changes everything.

Not just at the mega-cap level. Not just for Series A/B. All the way down to seed.

When capital is abundant, founders win. VCs compete to get into deals instead of founders competing to get into VCs.

When capital is abundant, diligence gets lighter. Valuations get higher. Timelines get faster. Terms get better.

Here's what's happening:

Mega-cap IPOs (SpaceX, Anthropic, OpenAI) are creating distributions. Distributions are creating capital in mega-funds. Capital in mega-funds is creating pressure to deploy. Pressure to deploy is creating abundance at Series A/B. Abundance at Series A/B is trickling down to seed.

This cascade is real. It's happening in real-time. It's accelerating.

If you're raising money right now, you're in the best market of your life.

Raise bigger. Raise faster. Raise at higher valuations. Demand better terms. Pick the best investors, not the desperate ones.

Because this window closes in 8-12 weeks when mega-cap IPOs finish and the capital cascade stops flowing.

Hunt accordingly. ☕
